Happy New Year, darlings! Resolutions all set to be broken yet?
At first I wasn't sure how to adequately capture what an amazing year it's been. Being able to share my experiences with all of you has been so rewarding; I've learned so much and had a ton of fun. Then it dawned on me...why not let the numbers speak for themselves? (Yes, beneath this fit fashionista foodie exterior lies a geeky data hound. The secret's out, now let's move on.) I pored over my site logs, and here are three baker's dozen lists for the year ending December 31, 2007:
TOP 13 REFERRERS (You came from...)
1. "The Bachelor" Fan Sites (abc.com Message Boards et. al.) Due to my sighting of Dr. Andy Baldwin and his then bride-to-be Tessa at Escape from Alcatraz.
2. Facebook The effect was palpable.
3. Feed readers Big thanks to my loyal subscribers, whose referrals are split 60/40 between Bloglines and Google Reader.
4. Covers (www.sfcovers.com) Ryan and I had a French fry tete-a-Tate going on for a while. For those of you who missed it the first time around, it started with this review, then came this reaction, and finally, this revelation.
5. Urbanspoon (www.urbanspoon.com) Those little logos at the bottom of my restaurant reviews are like magnets -- snippets of my reviews show up on Urbanspoon, enticing you come here for the full meal.
6. Eater San Francisco (http://sf.eater.com/) Eater keeps San Franciscans up-to-date on the latest food news, including the whispers and rants of the blogosphere. I was lucky enough to have their ear on a few occasions, including when Michael Bauer and I seemed to be the only ones not under Spruce's spell, and when a United Airlines employee was brutally honest about the new Charlie Trotter menu.
7. Google Search: Tracy Griffith How 'bout that... For all his Michelin stars, and as many pixels as I've given to Thomas Keller in this space, you came here more often searching for Tracy and her inventive sushi rolls. Keller didn't even break the baker's dozen on the referrers list (though he's well represented on the top stories list below). Let's hear it for female chefs!
8. Google Search: Spruce Though our meal left me cold, this restaurant is hot.
9. Google Search: Age of Love Don't know how many of you caught the reality show in which 30-year-old tennis star Mark Philippoussis had to choose a mate from a group of women that included 20-somethings and 40-somethings. Those who did watch enjoyed this quote, and so did I, since I've done a fair amount of threatening in my time.
10. Google Search: Ketel One This search led readers to one of my all-time favorite posts, in which I'm inspired by an ad to make 100 words out of the letters in Ketel One Vodka.
11. MyBlogLog My stat reporting site sent other bloggers my way.
12. Lizelle (http://lizelle.typepad.com) Lizelle and I had lost touch over the years, but blogging brought us back together! In fact, reading Lizelle's blog was part of what inspired me to start my own. Check out her gorgeous photographs -- including a dreamy encounter with Tony Bourdain.
13. ChuckEats' Quince Review I don't know Chuck from Adam, but we both like Quince.
TOP 13 STORIES (Aside from the front page, when you got here, you read...)
3. Chowdown: Keller vs. Bourdain
4. Chef's Story: Thomas Keller

9. Quote of the Day: Age of Love

12. Presidio Social Club (San Francisco)
13. 2nd Annual State of SF Restaurants
