This week my real and reality TV worlds are colliding!
Yesterday, as part of my pre-race preparation for the Danskin Tri in Austin next weekend, I decided to psych myself up by watching the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. What a rush to watch such a diverse array of athletes compete in one of the world's most unique and challenging courses. My first celeb sighting was of Sarah, the woman with the prosthetic leg from Amazing Race 10. She was hauling ass...great job, Sarah! Then, as I was watching the racers come off their bikes into the transition area, all of a sudden I heard "Go, Andy!" Seconds later, I was literally face-to-face with Dr. Andy Baldwin, aka The Bachelor (Officer and a Gentleman). He flashed a blinding white smile and was on his way. Later, I saw his reality-tv-bride-to-be, Tessa, cheering in the stands, and planting a wet one on him after he crossed the finish line. What a great couple they are -- I hope those crazy kids stay together!

UPDATE #2
As I was going through photos in my camera this weekend, I found this -- I didn't think I'd caught him, but lo and behold I did. It's a little blurry, but there's no mistaking those big guns of his. Click on the thumbnail and enjoy!
On Wednesday night (10pm/9pm Central on Bravo), Top Chef returns with an All-Stars episode pitting Season 1 stars (Harold "the Hottie" Dieterle, Dave "I'm Not Your Bitch, Bitch" Martin, Tiffani "that Bitch" Faison, and Stephen "Top Sommelier" Aspirino) against Season 2 stars (Ilan, Sam, Elia and Marcel. Nope, none of them nickname-worthy). I'm rooting for the Season 1'ers all the way -- mostly because I had the pleasure of the live Dave Martin experience when he catered my birthday party last year. I can tell you first hand that his truffle mac and cheese really was that good. Go, Dave -- I know you guys can do it! You're nobody's bitches!
So, you San Franciscans probably recognized that the title of this post is a thinly-veiled play on the name of the French bistro in South Park, The Butler and the Chef. Speaking of Frenchiness, the "Masterpieces of French Jewelry" exhibit at the Legion of Honor ends this coming Sunday, so don't miss it. What's French for bling? Je ne sais pas, but the jewels are exquisite! My favorites were a little gold mesh purse that was the body of a pig, with a head and four legs attached (I bet that little piggy purse didn't stay home!) as well as two pieces from Elizabeth Taylor's collection that were gifts from Richard Burton. Those crazy kids didn't stay together, but Dick sure did have some great taste in jewelry.
