"I think older women with younger men threatens all the right people."
-- William Hamilton cartoon in The New Yorker
This quote also appeared as an introduction to tonight's premiere episode of Age of Love on NBC. The premise? A reality show a la The Bachelor, but with a twist. Tennis star Mark Philippoussis (Lord knows if I spelled that right), 30, must choose the love of his TV life from among a group of women that includes 40-year-olds and 20-year-olds.
In tonight's installment, Mark masks a massive coronary when he realizes the entire first group of women is at least double the age of his last fling. However by the end he's regained his composure and is actually seeing how much fun it can be to date older women (go figure). Next week, the 20-somethings join the party...
While this thing could go either way, I've got real money on my 40-somethings. (Insert bad tennis cliché here.)
